A Glance Into

Our History

God has moved in some incredible ways over the last 40 years. In those years, we’ve seen that the Reimagine vision started long before it was ever implemented. Take a walk down memory lane with us as we outline the history of Christ Community Chapel. As you scroll, we hope you are encouraged as you read the brief descriptions under each point in the timeline.

Church Founded

Pastor Jim Colledge founded Hudson Community Chapel in June with 8 families (32 men, women, and children).

1981
Ground breaking
Broke ground at our first building on Stow Rd.
1986
New building
Moved into the building on Stow Rd in July.
1987
Pastor Joe
Pastor Joe Coffey came on staff.
1990
Outgrew building
Outgrew Our Building

Hudson Community Chapel outgrew their building on Stow Rd, sold it to Seton Catholic School, and began meeting at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

1997
Co-pastor
Pastor Joe Coffey became co-pastor.
1998
Breaking ground
Broke ground at 750 W Streetsboro St in June.
1998
First service
First Service in New Building

The first service was held at 750 W Streetsboro St. Pastors Jim and Joe were excited to have a building where all of Hudson Community Chapel's congregants could meet together for one service.

2000
Second service
Outgrew one service and added a second.
2001
Third service
Outgrew two services and added a third.
2002
East Hall venue added.
2005
Lead pastor
Pastor Coffey became Lead Pastor.
2006
Building expansion
Building Expansion

Expanded the Atrium and hallway and added the Living Room to promote mingling and fellowship between services.

2008
Children's area expansion
Expanded children's area by adding The Grid and The Fish Tank.
2008
Stow campus
Launched Stow Campus.
2009
Aurora campus
Launched first off-site campus in Aurora (formerly Lakeview Chapel).
2011
Name change
Name changed from Hudson Community Chapel to Christ Community Chapel.
2011
Highland Square campus
Launched Highland Square Campus in Akron.
2011
Restoration Chapel
Launched Restoration Chapel at Cuyahoga Hills Youth Detention Center.
2012
Redemption Chapel
Stow Campus became an independent church as Redemption Chapel.
2017
Orchard NEO
Orchard NEO church-planting program founded.
2017
Church planters
First Church Planters (Jon Ashley & Jeremy King) were hired with Orchard NEO in August.
2019
Garden City Church
Highland Square Campus became an independent church as Garden City Church.
2019
Ray Byrne
New Church Planter (Ray Byrne) hired with Orchard NEO in August.
2020
First church plants
First Orchard Church Plants

Wingfoot Church in Goodyear Heights (Jon Ashley) & Story Church in Mayfield Heights (Jeremy King) were launched in September.

Reimagine vision
Reimagine vision launch (January).
2021
Silver Creek Church
Aurora Campus became an independent church as Silver Creek Church.
2022
The Grove
The Grove in Shaker Heights (Ray Byrne) was launched on Easter.

New Church Planters (John Twymon & Lentrail Abston) hired with Orchard NEO in August.
